The Struggles of Being a 2A Content Creator

Being a 2A Content Creator is more challenging than ever. Suppression, demonetization, and ever-changing platform rules make it difficult to share firearm-related content. In this episode of For the Love of Guns, Chris from The 740 and Nate, Your Favorite Libertarian, break down the biggest challenges facing gun content creators today.

Platforms Are Cracking Down on 2A Content

Social media and video platforms continue to suppress content related to firearms. YouTube, Instagram, and even Amazon have restricted 2A content creators, cutting their visibility and income.

Chris shared that his YouTube channel once gained 350–400 new subscribers per month. Now, that number has dropped to around 180–220, despite producing the same quality content. Even videos that previously performed well suddenly get fewer views.

YouTube’s Inconsistent Policies Hurt 2A Content Creators

YouTube’s monetization rules are unpredictable. Some videos are initially approved, only to be demonetized days later without explanation. Even manual reviews often uphold the decision without citing specific violations.

But it’s not just YouTube. Instagram suppresses posts related to firearms, and Amazon rejects videos that contain even an AR upper in the background—proving that 2A content creators must constantly navigate unclear and ever-changing rules.

Making Money as a 2A Content Creator Is Nearly Impossible

Many people believe that YouTube pays well, but firearm content creators struggle to cover even basic production costs. The price of firearms, ammo, and camera equipment often outweighs any income from ad revenue.

Sponsorships and Affiliate Links Are Under Attack

Since YouTube bans direct links to gun-related websites, 2A content creators must use workarounds. Many build their own websites to host affiliate links, while others rely on platforms like Rumble. Unfortunately, services like Linktree and Patreon have also shut down gun-related accounts without warning.

That’s why it’s more important than ever to support independent businesses that work with gun content creators. If you’re looking for ammo, check out AmmoSquared and claim $20 in free ammo while supporting the 2A community.

Rumble: A Safe Haven for 2A Content Creators?

As YouTube makes it harder to publish firearm content, many 2A content creators have moved to Rumble. Unlike YouTube, Rumble allows in-depth gun videos, including installation guides for firearm modifications.

The Biggest Challenge? Less Traffic

Rumble is growing, but it still can’t match YouTube’s reach. A video that gets 50,000 views on YouTube might struggle to hit 1,000 views on Rumble. This makes it difficult for gun content creators to attract sponsorships or sustain their channels.

Still, many creators upload to both platforms as a backup, ensuring they have a place to share content without censorship.

YouTube’s Strike System Is a Threat to 2A Creators

The YouTube strike system poses a massive risk to 2A content creators.

•A first violation results in a warning.

• A second violation earns a strike and bans uploads for a week.

• Three strikes? The entire channel is deleted.

Old Videos Aren’t Safe from Strikes

Even private videos can trigger strikes. Some firearm content creators have received strikes for content that was uploaded years ago—even if it followed the rules at the time. Others have had their entire channel removed with no explanation.

Because of this, many 2A content creators now back up their videos and store content on independent websites.

How 2A Content Creators Are Adapting

Despite the challenges, gun content creators are finding new ways to share information. Whether through self-hosted websites, decentralized platforms, or email newsletters, they refuse to be silenced.
