What Tools Do You Need for a Glock 29 Teardown?

  • Glock Armorer’s Tool or 3/32″ punch
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Channel liner tool and install rod
  • Glock front sight tool or hex nut driver
  • Rear sight pusher
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Tray or towel for parts

Double-check your Glock is unloaded. Clear the chamber. Remove the magazine. Always work in a safe, clean, well-lit area—preferably on a padded surface. Organize your parts as you remove them for easier reassembly.

How to Disassemble the Glock 29 Slide

  1. Field Strip
    • Remove the mag and check the chamber.
    • Pull trigger.
    • Retract slide slightly, pull down slide lock, and remove slide.
    • Take out barrel and recoil spring.
  2. Slide Cover Plate
    • With slide bottom-up, push striker spacer sleeve forward with punch.
    • Slide cover plate off slowly—keep thumb over it.
  3. Remove Striker Assembly
    • Let it slide back and lift it out.
  4. Disassemble Striker
    • Grip spring with fingers, compress, remove both cups.
    • Slide off spring and remove bearing (if equipped).
  5. Extractor Plunger Assembly
    • Tip out spring, plunger, and rearward-facing bearing.
  6. Remove Extractor
    • Press firing pin safety plunger down.
    • Tilt extractor out from the right side.
  7. Remove Firing Pin Safety
    • Let plunger rise. Shake or poke it out with spring.
  8. Channel Liner
    • Use Glock liner tool to pull plastic sleeve from striker channel.
  9. Sights
    • Remove front sight screw with Glock tool.
    • Push or drift rear sight out with sight pusher or punch.

How to Break Down the Glock 29 Frame

  1. Pins First
    • Punch out rear (housing), front (locking block), and center (trigger) pins.
  2. Locking Block
    • Wiggle it free and pull up.
  3. Trigger Group
    • Pull entire unit up and out.
  4. Break Down Components
    • Remove connector from housing.
    • Unhook trigger spring.
    • Remove trigger bar and ejector housing.
  5. Slide Stop Lever
    • Lift straight out.
  6. Slide Lock & Spring
    • Push down spring and slide the lock sideways out.
  7. Magazine Catch & Spring
    • Use flathead through magwell to pop spring inboard.
    • Slide mag catch left to remove.

  2. Slide baseplate forward while holding tab.
