In this video, I’m taking a deep dive into my experience with the Gideon Alpha, a pistol red dot sight that I’ve been using for over a year. I initially ran it on a SIG Sauer P320 and loved it, but I decided to really put it to the test by mounting it on my custom-built 12-gauge shotgun, the “Home Rumbler.” Throughout this review, I’ll share what I like about the Alpha, including its durable design, the green dot that I’ve grown to prefer, and the convenience of the top-mounted battery door. I’ll also touch on the shake awake feature, which I think should be standard on all red dots. While there are a few minor drawbacks, like needing a T10 driver to access the battery, overall, the Alpha has performed flawlessly, holding zero even after being put through its paces. If you’re into long guns, this sight could be a game-changer for you.

Topics Discussed:
• Gideon Alpha’s Year-Long Performance: Initial use on a SIG Sauer P320 and later on a custom-built 12-gauge shotgun.
• Design Features: The angled design for added durability, green dot preference over red dots.
• Battery Accessibility: Advantages of the top-mounted battery door and the need for a T10 driver.
• Shake Awake Feature: Discussion on the shake awake technology and its responsiveness.
• Performance on Different Firearms: Review of the Alpha’s accuracy and ability to hold zero after repeated use.
Notable Quote
“As much as I like that they put this battery door at the top, you need a T10 driver to open it up. If your battery goes dead at the range, you might not have the torques wrench that they give you or even a screwdriver set.”
