A schedule answers when to inspect, clean, lubricate, or service. Inspection answers what you should do when you get there. The two are complementary, not competing philosophies.
For this Glock 26, use the maintenance guidance in the applicable GLOCK owner’s documentation for the pistol as your starting point. Where GLOCK specifies a maintenance, lubrication, inspection, or replacement interval, that manufacturer guidance takes precedence over a generic TRB interval.
Condition can justify earlier attention. Do not wait for the next scheduled interval when you observe:
- Unusual fouling, contamination, corrosion, or environmental exposure
- A new wear pattern compared with your established baseline
- A change in slide movement, trigger feel, magazine behavior, or other normal function
- Visible damage, deformation, cracking, or abnormal spring behavior
- A reliability change such as a failure to feed, extract, eject, return to battery, or fire normally
Condition also informs the decision at a scheduled inspection. Reaching an interval does not automatically mean a component is defective. Inspect the part, compare it with known-normal condition and the applicable manufacturer criteria, then maintain, replace, monitor, or escalate as appropriate.
TRB rule: Schedule tells you when to look. Condition helps determine what you do.
