The TRB Life 8-27-20 – Insomnia and 3D Printing

The TRB Life is a view into my life as a content creator in 1 minute or less videos. In this episode, Insomnia and 3D Printing, I talk about my lack of sleep and doing some 3D printing for the Mantis X10 video series that I am working on. The X10 comes with a plastic pic rail that you can attach to the bottom of a magazine. Since my wife’s gun does not have a pic rail we used the one that came with the X10 on her. I figure that I have a 3D printer I can print a few for my guns instead of buying them. Since it takes a while to print and I wasn’t sleeping anyway, I started printing.

When searching for 3D Models, I start on Thingiverse. It is amazing what you can find out there. I was specifically looking for if someone had a baseplate with a pic rail on it. My search was not successful for the gun I was trying this on. Sure there were some out there for Glock as well as Smith&Wesson but I was looking for Sig. I did find floor plates for the P320 and I found a small pic rail but not together, So I ended up printing both and crazy glued the pic rail to the bottom. It is crude but it worked. In hindsight, I should have just printed out the pic rail and double face taped it to the existing floor plate. But insomnia keeps you from thinking straight some times.
I also printed out some extra floor plates for testing out the Polymer 80 PF320PTEX. This will be a video that will be released in the future. However, you can see the head to head comparison with the Wilson Combat WCP320 grip module.
